I don't know why people is being so hard on this game. I've been playing the Ace Combat series since Ace Combat 2, and even if this is quite the exception over the whole series, as of story to functions and controls, it's still enjoyable. I've got a great time playing ACAH and enjoying the variety in it, not only on all the fighter planes, but also flying helicopters (which is something many AC players would have liked on previous AC games) and using a gun turret.

Well, the gun turret it's the only that seems a bit off for a game mostly about air combat, even if it's on a helicopter, that's the only thing that would belong to a CoD-esque game, but overall, it's still a good game.

I wouldn't recommend it only if you are a hardcore AC fan expecting a continuaiton of what was left on AC6.

If you buy this, do NOT buy this expecting a traditional Ace Combat experience, instead buy it expecting a blockbuster action experience similar to Call Of Duty in the means that it has some on-rails gameplay and deviates from the gameplay that is known for the rest of the series.

    What's changed?
Alot! I went into this seeing the mixed reviews and I expected alot of change but didn't know what... for starters, the game is very story driven, there are Metal Gear-esque cut-scenes at the bunker, quick time events during combat, helicopters missions and infared bombing missions. It's strange to see Ace Combat goes this route. The music is no longer Steve Vai/Joe Satriani stuff but is that orchestral moody stuff you'd expect to hear while playing something like God Of War.

Alot annoyed me at first but the gameplay is addicting as ever!

The multiplayer stil functions and is acrually pretty awesome.

It's okay, I like RaidersSphere4th better but this was passable after getting used to the changes. If this didn't have the name "Ace Combat", it would have recieved much better reviews from the player base. It's not bad, it just does things differently.

Its "nothing" compared with some of the previous chapters but yet it is an Ace Combat and if you are a fan then you will love it at least as much as i do.

Well worth the money and would love to see more support to play online.

The game is awesome but the only thing is your keyboard controls setting won't save when you exit. This game would have years of gameplay if not for that.

It was an experiment, and they learned from it.
I can't recommend it for everything, but if you have money that you can burn and are an ace combat fan, take a look, see if you can see what went well and what fell apart.

Fun, if not for the terrible AI.

Arcade style shooting, not much in the way of dog fighting as much as blowing stuff up. 'Murica, F*** YEAH!
    Engaging Storyline
    Lots of different planes

Terrible AI - your teammates are really just decoration, your wingman doesn't really cover your six.
The last fight with Markov is ridiculously stupid. It's to the point where you've blown him up several times, but they keep him alive to further the plot (means you don't actually get to kill him unless they're done talking) and he shoots four missiles at a time that follow you harder than Arthas chasing Mal'Ganis.

I think people are exaggerating about the dog fight mode, you don't have to use it aside from against certain bosses. At its core this is still ace combat, although the story isn't quite as good as 4, 5 or 0.

The helicopter missions are ok, reminds me of games like Comanche 4.

The lowest points are the ASM and AC-130 missions, ASM is avoidable but you might not make the objectives in time if you don't use it. AC-130 stuff is just monotonous and drags on for way too long.

Arguably the worst game in the series, but this is a 'spin-off' title and for what it's worth, it was pretty decent, even on PS3/Xbox 360. Hopefully Ace Combat 7 is a return to the tried and true formula that was loved by most Ace Combat players.

... still looks pretty good several years after release - a great arcade / flight / dogfighting game with a cheesy 80s-style throwaway storyline to go with it... still controls well, no issues (watch out for that machine gun section at the start - a bit of a bug means you can't control it whilst in the chopper - but just let it play through and the rest of the game is fine) - definitely a series to watch if it moves to VR... well worth a punt for a couple of quid...

I must say I really enjoyed this game. Well most of it. The story and cut scenes were really long and boring, so half way through I just started skipping them.

This is a very arcady flying game. The dog fight mode is cool because it adds more excitement to these types of games. The variety of missions was great. Sometimes it's fun to just sit on a gun and drop guys.

A few things I didn't like. When you blew up the last of a group, it would cut outside your vehicle and show the explosion up close. It was neat a few times, but then it started happening too often. Also when you are on the gun in the bomber, it's really jarring. Missions were really long. I probably would have prefered a more smaller missions. The game also tries to automatically flip you upright. I found myself fighting that part of the controls. That feature was useful once you just let it happen.

Overall it was a good experince. I didn't try the multiplayer, I've got too many other games to try. If you are looking for more of a flight sim, this isn't the game for you. But if you are up for a fun gameplay experience, give it a shot!
