Rhythm game but with YOUR music. But it doesn't HAVE to be music, so you can play audio tracks of public speeches or heavy breathing or whatever.

SO I know I'm late to the party... like WAY late.

Now if you love Melody's Escape. You're gonna love Audiosurf a bit more. Similar to running to your own music, only it looks nicer and its a little easier on the eyes. It's easy, its fun, and it has a bit of variety. Different ships with different modes. Just imagine how fast you'd go in a Sonic game. Take away the blue hedgehog and the platforming and thats all it is. You go as fast as the tempo of the music. Matching notes to the beat. It's addictive, its simple, and its gorgeous to look at. So if you need a fun game to beat the time and you don't have much money left for the Christmas Sale. Get this. You won't regret it I promise. Beat other user's high scores to the same songs, its all a big competition that never ends. Did I forget to mention it is its own seperate visualizer? Thats right. If you don't wanna play and you just wanna look at the cool visuals. You can do that too. That's a thing.

Also you get the soundtrack of Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, and Portal. Which is also a pretty sick deal. If you love rythym games. This is definitely a must have.

AudioSurf, here we have a game title that perfectly describes what the game is about, a piece of software that turns any song (or audio track actually) into a level that you can play. And it's not randomly generated, is consistent, so every time you play that song you will get the same track allowing you to have a competitive game with scoreboards. Or you can just use it as a music player with a really trippy, and playable, visualizer.

Do you like music? Good. Do you like games? Good. Do you like seizures? Too bad. This game is very good, just don't stare at the background images for too long. There's a reason that I have trifocals now.

    Product received for free

This was the first PC game I absolutely fell for, there is a way to listen to music and have fun while doing it pretty much.

Steam account disappeared, I repurchased it 5 years later. Still a good game.

I've spent countless hours on this game. I've played every song ever to be played. But, I will always remember, that one of those hours were spent playing the entire Bee Movie script. 10/10. Great game.

Ok, so looking at my records I have owned this game for... 7 years.

    7 years.

    At least.

It may say I have 100 hrs or so, but they reset our game hour counters a long time ago, and I suspect that number is really up at the 300hr mark. So clearly, I used to play this game an immense amount, which implies I enjoyed it (spoiler: I did)

Right, but has the game aged well?

In some ways, yes - the gameplay is still great. Flow inducing. Good controls. Fun,

In others - no. It's clear the devs have stopped working on it, which is absolutely fair - but if you want rebinding for keys? Not gonna happen. Controller support - apparently that's not so good either.

Take it for what it is - a pretty old game that plays well.

Do you like driving your F-Zero... I mean futuristic space car on Rainbow Road... corkscrews and absurdly steep hills and drops?! What about doing all that WHILE listening to your favorite jam?

Then yes, this is the game for you! Why listen to a set music track when you can choose your own, which in turn makes your game playthrough that much more different, inspired by your song!

I love listening to my music, so why not jam out while playing video games! Especially when you get to that ridiculous solo!

If Synthesia became competitive and a semi-racing game, it would look like this.

    Audiosurf is pretty fun. 10/10.

Audiosurf constructs tracks based on the tempo of songs. That track goes uphill in slow moments and tumbles downhill when the music speeds up, twisting as the song changes. Scattered over the course are coloured blocks, placed so you pass them to the beat. Depending which mode you select the aim is either to avoid certain blocks or collect them in clusters of three or more on a board behind you. It’s like Guitar Hero with the fretboard re-imagined as a psychedelic rollercoaster hanging in space.

Occasionally the puzzle element can distract but that's why other modes are there. Racing over the track trying to time your lane-switching to the beat gives you a new appreciation of your chosen music. Freddie Mercury will never know it but he was one of the most talented level designers of all time. I didn't used to like Queen but then I played their songs in Audiosurf and now I recognise 'Fat Bottomed Girls' for the genius it is.
