And amazing new IP and a breath of fresh air in the survival horror genre! Did not think that a survival horror in space is going to be this good!! The game does not rely on jump-scares to make you afraid of going into a new area - it does it by the atmosphere, a very well written plot, and amazing game mechanics!

A must play for everyone who ever enjoyed Resident Evil or any other real survival horror game!

I recommend this game. More specifically, I recommend you play this game in the evening.

No matter what, I recommend you throw on some surround sound headphones, turn the lights off and play this game.

    Price I paid: $7

This game kicks butt and it's aged like a fine wine. Give it a try.

NOTE: Mouse sensitivity is pretty horrible.
(Extremely slow aiming / turning around)

Snip Snip.. Such a great game.

When i first played it in 2008 i was mind blown by its world and its monsters. Gamplay is quite good too and its atmosphere.. Runs great on PC but i really hope that they add achievements for this game. Would DEfINITELY 100% it :(

If it's lying on the ground, kill it. Don't matter if it looks mangled beyond recognition; if it's lying on the ground, you kill it with everything that you've got.

That's the first and basic rule of Dead Space: a game that's full of horrifying surprises around every corner. This game is so scary, you'll feel relieved upon meeting that one random guy, banging his battered head against the wall. Everything that moves either wants to decapitate you, or make you one of their own - and those resilient beings will stop at nothing to get to you, unless you tear off their pointy limbs apart from their fast-moving bodies. The Necromorphs can crawl through the vents, and appear out of the blue - ready to pounce at a moment's notice. And what better man to face them than a hardened engineer who fights these abominations with space shop tools? Isaac Clarke acts like a desentisized shell for the player, lacking emotions and words to speak, with only one goal in mind: to find his girlfriend. In short, he's the perfect horror everyman - and he's too in love to let the undead freaks get in the way to his sweetheart.

    And there you have it.

    Guide to enjoying this game:

    Choose your style:

Movie action hero: Easy mode, lights on, shoot stuff.

Survival Horror: Hardest available mode, only plasma cutter, no lights on, headset on, all alone.

    Enjoy...
AND MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF THE IN-GAME V-SYNC, and enable v-sync in your amd/nvidia control center, AND USE A XBOX-360 CONTROLLER!
    TRUST ME.

Cons to this game: No achievements, Mouse+Keyboard controls suck.

At some point it becomes less like horror and more like you're the exterminator come to burn all the bugs.

My favourite game ever. It has space, sci-fi, violence, gravity, no gravity, physics, creepy soundtrack, jump scares, cool suits, a unique fighting style and a cool protangonist. 10/10

Dead space is the classical horror game that actually is still alive since its launch. Even nowadays I can easily fall into the spirit of dark and scary corridors of USG Ishimura and get my atmospheric gameplay and a lot of content for creation of my own way of struggle. I am very sure that even after some years, it will be very interesting for me to replay this game and relive its experience again.

I played this game a lot when it came out in 2008. It's the scariest game in the Dead Space series. The gameplay reminded me of Resident Evil 4, the sci-fi element and horror reminded me of System Shock. Though I could never really enjoy the story or the Dead Space world, I appreciated how much work went into expanding it (mini-games, movies and books). What I enjoyed most about this game is the complete lack of UI. Without the UI the whole experience feels more like watching a movie (found footage?). I think that this is one of those games that you just have to have in your Steam Library. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=710414302 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=710913128
