If you are an RTS fan this is a must! Even if you do not play MULTI, the campaign is worth the money... think of it as reading a good book!

Great remaster for those of us who had major nostaglia for Homeworld RTS gaming back in the day. The texture and graphics updates are very noticable (go load up the classic games to see). Still lots of fun, HW2 story is still not as good as HW1, though I liked it more than I remember liking it back in the day. Lots of explodey ship fighting. Some of the, uh, 'fun' difficulty spikes in HW2 are still there though.

Still stands up as a decent game even without the nostalgia.

This is what Re-Masters should be like.

It's not an effective re-release of a game that came out only half a decade ago, with only graphical updates and better modding support *Cough*...Skyrim...*Cough*...Should have been Morrowind or Oblivion...*Cough*...

It's a Re-Master of a game that was first released 17 years ago, that would not work so well if at all on current machines due to compatability issues.

For me, this has brought back the nostalgia of the early 2000's when I first got in to gaming. I have fond memories of going to LAN centres, amassing armadas of Battlecruisers and using their Hyperdrives to warp to and destroy my friend's Pride of Hiigara.

Game works well. Just like I remember it being back in the day. Having the whole 3D space as your battlefield just gives the game a greater sense of scale and epicness to your battles.

    Some games define a genre.
Some games define a playing system.
And then you have games that define a generation.
Homeworld is one of these very few games that define how games make you feel totally immersed in the actual game.
The game is extremely well made and just draws you into its universe.
The graphic update for the remastered version is something that all game developers should look at. If you want to relaunch a old game just update the graphics. Dont ruin the game by trying to add your own idea.
But for me the crowing jewel for this game is the music. This game has music to sooth the savage beast. I played this game for hours at a time just to listen to the music.
i was close to tears sometime when the music coinsided with some very dramitic game play.
If you have the money then you must add this to your game library

    This game is, NOW, perfect.

At the release there were several things missing. I uninstalled it and waited, patiently. Since the patch 2.0, the last awaited feature (efficient formations) is here, and you have the most beautiful, strategic, and immersive RTS I've played since ... forever (I'm 40).

The storyline is epic, even though the HW2 one is less interesting than in HW1, you'll enjoy doing it from start to end.
Is it required to clear HW Deserts of Kharak before ? No.
Is it interesting to clear DoK for the story ? Yes, but not mandatory to fully enjoy HWR story. DoK was released (2016) long after HW1 (1999) and HW2 (2003), even HWR (2015).

I didn't play multiplayer at all (yet ?) but for the solo part, it is fully worth it.
I know there's a lot of popular mods for multiplayer, and Gearbox worked his ♥♥♥ off to make everything possible for modders.

I hope you'll love this game as much as I do, it deserves it.

The 2.0 update adds everything that was lacking from the initial release (bar the HW1 credits music). The newly added physically stimulated ballistic weapons, strike craft formations and intelligent strike groups have combined the best tactical features from HW1 and 2 into this masterpiece.

If you're getting this revitalised classic (2 remastered games AND the 2 originals) on sale you're getting an incredible bargain. One of the best space operas ever available to gamers, well worth it even at full price.

When I first saw this game as a kid, I was amazed how cool it looked.

When I first played it a couple years later, I was amazed on how it played.

When I first found out about the Remastered Collection, I was amazed on how cool it looked.

When I played it a year later, I was amazed on how it played.

Formations!!! Ballistic!!! For real this time!!! (the moment I saw units moves in formations and friendly fire on HW2 ships, I almost lost my ♥♥♥♥) Now it improves upon every espect of the original games while keeping most of the original gameplay mechanics intact.

Now they should rename it Homeworld Remastered Definitive Edition. Kudos to the developers who keep on improving the game.

    The best game ever, remade!!!!

    Can spend hours playing this...

The only criticism is that there is not a lot of people online to play against, but hey, just go for Player v CPU!

If you like a cerebral game, this is for you!
