Ok so basically if you were born between 1975 and 1980, buy this game.

A fantastic Generation 1 esque Transformers game, one that we have wanted for years and years. Nice and tough hack and slash with some exploration, many upgrades and replayablilty.

A must buy for a TRUE Transformers fan. Only bad thing is the lack of "that" soundtrack, you know which one I mean....

You got the touch..... you got the POWWWWWEEERRRRRRR.

    YEAH!

This is the game that 40 year-olds have been waiting 30 years to play! It looks and feels like the cartoon, and the gameplay is engaging and fun. The whole gear and stats meta is totally lost on me, but that hardly matters when you're a Volkswagen Beetle! It can be quite challenging, even on easy mode, but it's worth it. It would have been nice to be able to unlock a growing number of characters to play, and a Decepticon-aligned campaign would have been nice. Also, it would have been terrific to be able to create your own transformers with their own unique designs and trasnformations. But the game deserves the praises it has received, and any game that can make an old man feel like a kid again is a good game!

I've finished this excellent game and I must recommend it. I haven't got the chanceto see the animated series, but I heard that is very similar to the game. Game mode, bosses, and its history are truly amazing and very entertainbing; and I hope to play other versions from this franchise very soon. 100% recommended.

This is the most fun I've had with Transformers since the 1984 motion picture!

    What's fun:
    - Original voice actors reprise rolls (get it?)
    - 60fps fighting goodness
    - Fantastic visuals (the cartoon never looked this good)
    - Period thematic soundtrack
    - Deep but accessiible combat
    - A faithful nostalgia trip

    What's not:
    - Game's a little pricey for the content
    - Just five characters (three types) on the roster
    - Inventory management can get tedious
    - Mouth animation looks a little wierd
    - Can't sell anything if you don't have enough money (a bug, no doubt)

Overall if you love Platinum fighting games this one's a solid experience. Rock solid framerates, tasty visuals and a lot of fun. $50 is a lot to ask, but the quality of the product is high. I'll get another 12 hours out of this, but I don't exactly rush around.

Verdict: For $12 via Humble Bundle, totally worth it. Grab it on sale.

    Right,

Do I recommend this? Yes I do. As someone that grew up with the original cartoons and toys, this game really hits the spot. Its a good old fashioned button masher beat em up, kinda like Streets of Rage, but in a 3D world rather than a side scroller. Ok, the story took me 4 hours to complete (short even at my slow and steady old man pace), but there is so much to like about this game. The animation is excellent, the way the characters are drawn is true to the cartoons, and the animations are smooth and good to watch. There is a bit of simple weapon crafting to do if you like, and, believe it or not, the five Autobots you get to use is actually enough. Also, as many of the original voice actors were used as possible, even on the less impotant characters, making it as close to the original series as could be. I think this is a well polished effort. Enjoyable, simple and fun, and something you can pick up and play from where you leave off. There is even a Marvel style after credits scene too!

An average game that I'd price around $20. The current price of $50 for a 5 hour long game is a slap to the face.

It's a platinum beatemup with some admittedly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ firearms and a few overused bland maps.

The cream of this game is in fighting the iconic Decepticons. Every major battle plays differently and you can tell they put the brunt of their effort into making these major fights a blast. The voice work, atmosphere, and plot are exactly where they need to be, a flawless emulation of the classic cartoon.

There's a lot of pointless grind hidden behind the regular campaign. Rather than spend time padding the game out wouldn't it have been better to make the regular campaign longer?

I still vastly prefer the earlier fps-centric Cybertron games. Nothing could come close to those two stellar games.

*wakes up on a lazy Sunday morning*

Cup of coffee in-hand, I thought I'd try this game out. It was a pure nostalgia impulse-buy during this year's Summer Sale.

Without any idea what to really expect, I dove in. Buttery-smooth graphics, original cartoon voice cast, I basically got to play with my old Transformers again. This *WAS* my every Saturday morning. I had almost every one of these toys.

Teenage son walks in, "Dad, what's for dinner?"

    *Looks at clock*

    Oh my.

I spent my Sunday playing as a lightning hammer-wielding, fire-breathing, robot T-Rex, and I don't regret one minute of it.

I am pleased. Well done, TRANSFORMERS: Devastation. Well done.

Maybe not worth full retail given its 5-6 hour story but this is a fantastic game start to finish full of nostalgia and spectacle fighter gloriousness, if you see this for £10 buy it instantly you will not regret it!

The nostalgia! this game brought me back to the 80's. Typical platinum game with the 6-10 hours to beat the game the 1st time around. But the rewards for finishing the game super fast and ofcoarse finishing the game with the diffrent characters give it replayability. Very well optimized. Bayonetta with Transformers pretty much lol

Dear Platinum Games.. Can we get a Voltron or GI Joe game? Thundercats? He-Man?

Slick action game that wholeheartedly embraces the style and characterizations of the 80s toon. Combat is fluid, with a nice combo system that makes use of transforming. Equipment management feels a bit needless, since you're mostly just upgrading the same weapons forever, but there is some skill/stat twinkage you can do with it if that's your thing.

The top down missions are completely stupid though. That's my only real complaint.

Having finished it now, I wanted to add that the writing is surprisingly good. Transformers games are usually such a mess of fanservice quotes that they've just gotten old. Devastation maintains the spirit of the old Transformers while feeling like something new.

Great action game even if you don't care about transformers.
Yeah it's like five hours long but it has a ton of replayability and HOLY CRAP is it a steal at $12.50

Basically Bayonetta with Transformers. I have no idea how else to describe this game.

I was a bit sad that there was no Decepticon campaign, but it was still kickass.
