This game is fantastic and well worth the $40 price tag. It's a turn based RPG with a high level of character customization that runs around 60 hours. Combat feels great, the story is engrossing, and the experience kept me entertained until the end.

The game gets a little slow towards the end of the first section of the game, but then picks back up in a big way in the second half.

Run perfectly on SteamOS. Highly recommended.

Maybe one of the best games i've ever played. Excellent Turn Based RPG. Story Driven, Build your own character. Excellent world and lorecraft.

This was made by the same people who made the original Fallout games and it very much is the true successor to that line of games.

Dozens of choices throughout the story add loads of replay value and customization. While there are some great characters you can recruit throughout the game, you can start out with your own 4 man squad that you customize yourself, giving you tons of controll over how the missions will unfold.

    Can't recommend enough.

Played the free weekend and enjoyed it.

Steam prevented me from purchasing it during the 50% discount as it was "Already in my Library". Now the free weekend is over and I refuse to pay full price out of principal. After reading the reviews I know I'm not the only person that this has happened to.

Shame. Can't even add it to my Wish List.

Holy ♥♥♥♥. So many of these kids are disliking this game. I suppose thats what happens when you give ungrateful brats 2 days of the game for free. This game is one of THE best games i have ever played. All the negative reviews you have been reading lately is from little kids who cant appreciate this game for what it is. A turn based rpg just like they used to make them, top quality. The people that are down voting this game are COD kids or people who have zero patience or finesse in games like this. In my opinion this game surpasses fallout 1 and 2 and all the other turn based rpg's i have ever played. So far i have played it twice and will probably continue to play it until they release wastleand 3 which will be even more badass than this one was. Support the devs of this game and ignore all the negative comments and prepare for one wild ride.

    Pros:
+ Sequel for the original Wasteland
    + High difficulty level
    + Looks and sounds decent
+ Great nostalgia feeling of how great the games used to be
+ No DLC or microtransactions crap

    Cons:
    - Might not open to 21 century players, who are used to 'easy' games
    - Minor design flaws (no 'Resting' option for example)

    Do I recommend?
If you ever played the original Wasteland and Fallout series and liked them, then I definitely recommend this game to you.

    Verdict: 8.5 / 10 - Really good game
    (1 = do-not-bother game
    5 = average game
    10 = must own game)

A better Fallout game than Fallout 4.

If you want a good CRPG with: story, choices, characters, gameplay, and plenty to explore. This is the game for you. The only 'downside' to the game that I can think of is, if you haven't played other games of this type such as: Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale you might be a bit lost to begin with. If you've only played RPGs that hold your hand and tell you what you can and can't do then this might be a shock to the system. The game is about exploring and finding your own way of doing things, even if the game doesn't state you can do, it doesn't mean you can't.

Sure as hell don't recommend it for the price.

I played the original ~20 years ago and this does well as successor. It tugged at my nostalgia in every way it should, making me excited about what the wasteland had been up to in the aftermath. I wasn't disappointed with this game. The turn based strategy combat was easy enough to get used to, the fights were challenging and offered a sense of accomplishment, and world exploration forces you to map out your path prior to embarking across the wastes. I genuinely like this game.

But not for its base price of $40. If you're going to get it, hold out for a half off sale.

Bring me back to the old fallout games. Old skill play, with better graphics and more stuff to play with. Definitely worth buying if you like classic rpg style games. The directors cut is ok basically the same game but some changes. I hope they make another one

This is actually a really cool product, this game is what fallout would have been if they stuck to it's CRPG roots. It does play alot lke fallout 1 and 2, and i think the overall negative reviews recently is horrible. This game is good, but be prepared for a hard game because this is the sequel to wasteland 1, the game that inspired fallout 1.

but if you are going to play it - make sure you 1) make a guy with medic skills, 2) surgeon skills. Otherwise you're going to have dead team mates all around you...

    Overpriced on steam!
Even on sale, as it is right now

Payed 10 € for the Ranger Edition and this comes with Wasteland 1 and both versions of Wasteland 2 (DC and normal)

The game itself got me from the start, but i had to restart 2 times cause i skilled wrong

The Story is very good and thats what really keeps me playing
Combat is fine, there are some minor things that could be better

Game is still bugged (like i always lose the clothes on my rangers) but they are not major

I only wrote this review cause of the price right now, BUY IT IN A STORE FOR LIKE 10 BUCKS
    Its worth it!

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut is a diamond with rough shapes, imperfect, not the most attractive, unpolished...but still a diamond!

A very fun and enjoyable experience, especially for older RPG fans (Fallout 2 and earlier era), with decent story, interesting choices, freedom in creating your team with lots of skills and perks.
You can solve many missions in different manner, lot of homage and easter eggs can be found(or digged) in this game, funny characters and followers and good ol' turn-based fighting system.

Overall, it's been a while since I've enjoyed in a new game that wanted to pay respect to older classics.

    Two thumbs up!

p.s - time spent in game was almost 80 hours....

Of course its not the best looking game, nor is it without a few crashes here and there, but this game is great. The depth of the story is just awesome, it pays plenty of homage to the original Wasteland, and took me back to a time in which the gaming world wasn't totally focused on multiplayer or FPSs. If you are a fan of old school RPGs go for this, especially if you loved the old school fallout games.

I did get a tad frustrated with the ineffectiveness of shotguns, and it would be nice if you could have your squadmates target individual enemies so you can ambush them before entering combat. However, as I said before I really thought it was fun as heck every time I played it.

Kind of amazing that such games like Wasteland 2 still gets developed. It plays and looks like a CRPG from 15 years ago and it's just great. I mean, to me Fallout 1 is undoubtedly the godfather of all RPG games. Fallout 1 was a mature, amazing game that almost everyone liked. However the inspiration for the creation of Fallout was Wasteland. Now we have Wasteland 2, which greatly honors the CRGP genre unlike the modern iterations of Fallout. If you enjoyed these types of games back in the day, you will love the gameplay and the unforgiving challenge in Wasteland 2. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=604574249 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=610206702

I've played it in the original version. Then the DC. Now I want to make a third round. And I've already backed W3 with the alpha key and can't wait for it.
I've enjoyed Fallout 1 and 2 and Baldur's gate and of course Torment, back in the days. And I've played 300 hours to Pillars of Eternity completing also White March.
And still, this one has something more. Something makes me want to play this again and (can't) wait for W3.

Warning, if you are running Windows 10, you will need to go into Properties>Set Launch Options: "-force-d3d9" to prevent your game from crashing every time you open the inventory panel. The moment I did this fix, I ran smooth.

Initial troubleshooting aside, I love this game. It reminds me of the challenging fun I had with the original 2 Fallout games. (For obvious reasons)

SAVE OFTEN! The consequences of your actions stack up quickly. Also, play around with your parties builds. Search forums to find the party you would like to build, there are lots of resources out there for you.

Again, I love this game. Recommend it to any fans of the Fallout series and cheap immitations. :)

Awarded Game of the Year by PCWorld, Wasteland 2 is the direct sequel to 1988’s Wasteland, the first-ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG and the inspiration behind the Fallout series. Until Wasteland, no other CRPG had ever allowed players to control and command individual party members for tactical purposes or given them the chance to make moral choices that would directly affect the world around them. Wasteland was a pioneer in multi-path problem solving, dripping in choice and consequence and eschewing the typical one-key-per-lock puzzle solving methods of its peers, in favor of putting the power into players’ hands to advance based on their own particular play style. The Wasteland series impressive and innovative lineage has been preserved at its very core, but modernized for the fans of today with Wasteland 2.

Immerse yourself in turn-based tactical combat that will test the very limits of your strategy skills as you fight to survive a desolate world where brute strength alone isn’t enough to save you. Deck out your Ranger squad with the most devastating weaponry this side of the fallout zone and get ready for maximum destruction with the RPG-style character advancement and customization that made the first Wasteland so brutal. Save an ally from certain death or let them perish – the choice is yours, but so are the consequences. Key Features One Size Does Not Fit All: Don't feel like finding the key for a door?
